ZHOUSHAN, ANNA POTOKINA QUARTA NELLA TAPPA REGINA

L’ex campionessa nazionale russa su strada è stata una delle principali protagoniste della seconda frazione della gara cinese (Zhoushan – Zhoushan, 83.7 km – Shengsi Stage), caratterizzata da numerosi chilometri di salita. Anna Potokina ha resistito fino al termine della tappa con il gruppetto di cinque atlete che è andato poi a disputarsi la volata per la vittoria di tappa, andata alla tedesca Charlotte Becker. Il distacco di soli 14” di Anna Potokina dalla leader in classifica generale Sheyla Gutierrez può permettere alla forte atleta di Voronezh di puntare anche al podio finale, con il terzo posto occupato momentaneamente dalla connazionale Yelizaveta Oshurkova, distante solo 7” da Potokina. Argyro Milaki, maglia gialla dopo il successo di ieri, ha chiuso oggi 26°.

Il commento post gara del Team Manager di Servetto – Stradalli – Alurecycling Dario Rossino: “La vittoria di Milaki nella prima tappa è stata uno stimolo importante per la squadra, che anche oggi si è comportata bene nella frazione regina. Il podio in classifica generale diventa un obiettivo e domani ce la metteremo tutta per raggiungerlo.”

The former Russian Road National Champion has been one of the main protagonists in the second stage of the Chinese race (Zhoushan – Zhoushan, 83.7 kms – Shengsi Stage), which included many kilometers of climb. Anna Potokina resisted until the end of the stage with a small peloton with five riders who sprinted for the stage victory, taken by the German Charlotte Becker. The gap of only 14” for Anna Potokina from the provisional race leader Sheyla Gutierrez can permit to the strong athlete from Voronezh to fight for a place on the final podium, as the third place of her compatriot Yelizaveta Oshurkova is just 7” far. Argyro Milaki, Yellow Jersey after her win yesterday, has ended the Stage 2 as 26th.
