THE TEAM SERVETTO – STRADALLI – ALURECYCLING AT THE GIRO ROSA
The Italian Team from Asti (Piedmont) is ready for the biggest appointment of the season: the Women’s Giro d’Italia (6th – 15th July) is the most prestigious race in the international UCI calendar and the route is one of the hardest ever. The Team Manager Dario Rossino will be at the start in Verbania with the following seven athletes: Anna Potokina (Russia), Kseniia Dobrynina (Russia), Ana Cristina Sanabria (Colombia), Jessica Parra (Colombia), Marion Bessone (France), Sara Casasola (Italy) and Sara Pillon (Italy).
The Giro Rosa 2018 will start in Verbania with a very waited Team Time Trial along the Lake Maggiore and it goes one with a hilly Stage 2 in Ovada. The number 3 is all flat and it takes place in Corbetta, near Milan. Piacenza is hosting the stage 4 and the first troubles will be in Omegna the day after. Wednesday, 11th July there will be the first of three uphill finishes: the start is in Sovico (Monza e Brianza) to arrive in Gerola Alta, Valtellina, after racing along the eastern coast of the Lake Como. The following uphill individual time trial Lanzada – Campo Moro Dam ends the two days of race in the Sondrio Province to move later in Veneto for the San Giorgio di Perlena – Breganze (Stage 8). The Big Final is in Friuli, first on the terrible Monte Zoncolan then in Cividale, where the overall winner will be crowned with the trophee and the Maglia Rosa.
“We have various options for the Giro” – Dario Rossino explains – “The team is competitive, Anna and Kseniia were great in the Russian National Champions: then there are the new riders Marion and Sara Pillon then Ana Cristina and Jessica ended their South American races. And there is Sara Casasola who will take part in a very hard race in her first year as elite. She will have for sure a huge support when the race will be in Friuli, her region. The big mountains are important, we did the best in 2017 especially with Ana Cristina: we still remind what she could do during the last La course By Le Tour de France, when she arrived with the best climbers in the world on the Izoard. We hope to make the same in the Giro 2018”.
